QTM Electrical has been engaged by York Civil for the $32.1m Charles Street Bus Bridge and Busway Project, set for completion early in 2017. The project will see a new bus bridge from Charles Street to the existing James Street bus bridge; a new off-ramp onto Roe Street which will replace the James Street off-ramp; a new bus priority lane on Charles Street; doubling of the turn pocket at the Charles Street off-ramp; reconfiguration of the Carr Street and Charles Street intersection; improved access to the bus layover area at James Street; and minor improvements to the James Street, Wellington Street off-ramp and Newcastle Street/Cleaver Street intersections.

Our involvement will require us to:

  • supply and install street lighting on Charles Street, Roe Street, James Street and the busway and ramps
  • supply and install new traffic signals at:
    • Charles Street & Carr Street
    • Charles Street & Newcastle Street
    • James Street & new signalised bus roundabout
    • James Street & new bus ramp from Charles Street
    • Roe Street & the new Mitchell Freeway off-ramp onto Roe Street
  • upgrade and modification of the existing traffic signals at:
    • Charles Street & Carr Street
    • Charles Street & Newcastle Street
    • Fitzgerald Street & James Street
    • Fitzgerald Street & Roe Street
    • Newcastle Street & Cleaver Street
  • supply and install ITS associated with the busway, including future conduits and CCTV
  • relocate and protection of fibre optic joint and cabinet located at the James Street and Bunnings Lake area.
